Getting Accurate Lists: The Website Keyword Filter

Written by Richard Francis

The single biggest lever for list accuracy is the Website Keyword filter. If a delivered list has ever drifted off target, this is the fix.

Why lists drift

For local business lists we often start from Google Maps searches of [industry] + [location]. Google is the best small business data source in the world, but its algorithm likes to include "related" results: search for restaurants and the odd catering company appears.

The fix

Focus each task on one industry and pair it with Website Keywords: words that must appear on a lead's website for it to qualify. For a Miami restaurant list, keywords like "restaurant", "menu" or "reservations" filter out everything that is not genuinely a restaurant.

Good keyword habits

  • Use words your ideal customer always has on their site, not marketing jargon.

  • Two or three keywords is usually plenty.

  • Run separate tasks for separate industries instead of one broad task.

If a list still misses

We credit back invalid leads. Export the task's contacts as CSV from your Contacts page, note why each invalid lead is off target, and send us the file in the chat.
